In early 1964 Mercury built 11 light weight Comets, ten 2-door coupes and one wagon. They were powered by 427 Ford Hi-Riser and to be run in NHRAs A/Factory Experimental. Dyno Don Nicholson ran the wagon then later driven by Fast Eddie Schartman. The cars were built for Mercury by Detroit Steel and Tubing.
