My dream muscle car has always and will always be a mustang. I always wanted a shelby edition however, top gear rated it lower then the roush mustang. What do you think about that?

Truthinperception, I think that Ford currently offers the best performance/bang for the buck by way of the Mustang.  It holds true to it’s heritage and has a classic design.  The biggest thing for me is that you can throw it around much easier than the new Challenger and Camaro due to lighter weight and smaller wheelbase.

The biggest thing about the Roush Mustang is that it is designed buy the owner of a Nascar team who has extensive knowledge of suspension, breaking and overall handling.  The upgrades found on the Roush make it a killer on the street.

On the other hand, the Shelby keeps much more of the stock Mustang suspension components but makes about 50 more hp, so traffic light to traffic light or at the strip it will be your winner.

Overall, I think any car lover would kill to own either vehicle.  If I could choose, I would take the Roush.  If you need more hp, it is easy enough to change the supercharger pulley (and maybe add meth injection to keep detonation down).

Here is the Roush vs. Shelby Mustang Top Gear video mentioned in the last post.

My only criticism is that they compared a convertible to a hard top.  The Shelby is at an automatic disadvantage on a road course due to loss of stiffness by not having a roof.
